Hair Care Tips For Children

As your kid get older, they will begin to have preferences about the hairstyles like.   Whether your child's hair is long, straight and thin, or short, thick and curly or some other combination, it requires care and upkeep to stay healthy. A suitable hair care regime will vary depending on hair type and lifestyle. Basic hair care for kids includes regular shampooing, daily grooming and frequent cuts. Learning proper hair care techniques in childhood can lay the groundwork for maintaining healthy hair throughout lifeThis is a natural identity issue that stays with us into adulthood. By teaching your children good hair care techniques when they are young, you will be guiding them to a lifetime of healthy hair.
Washing : At First you should wash hair using a mild shampoo that doesn't sting your kids eyes. When they are old enough, teach them how to shampoo and rinse their own hair. Use conditioner when your child is older and has longer hair. Avoid putting conditioner on the scalp.
Shea Butter for Hair Conditioning : Shea butter is a good choice for child hair care because it is mild and works as sunscreen as well. Products with shea butter are good for curly hair and hair that is dry and needs extra conditioning to be manageable. Apply shea butter to the hair after a bath and brush through the hair thoroughly for an even coating.
Tangles : Detangling is best done before you wash your child's hair. Use a wide tooth comb and start at the bottom of the hair, working your way up. Tangles can cause terrible battles between you and your child. To reduce the pain of combing tangled hair, hold taut the section of hair you are trying to comb. For problematic tangles, you can spray in a good detangler. The best time to get rid of tangles is when the hair is still wet after it has been washed. For curly hair or hair that tends to tangle easily, use a gentle mist of leave in conditioner before combing.

Combing/Brushing : Encourage your child to comb/ brush their own hair. Use a comb, not a brush on wet hair. It promotes shine and minimizes hair breakage. Curly hair is hard to manage on an adult, and even harder to manage on a child who plays rough all day long. A conditioning routine is especially important for kids with long hair to keep the hair from breaking. If you don`t want to both with the hassle of two rinses in the tub, purchase a light shampoo and conditioner combo, and make sure to wash their hair at least 2-3 times a week to make sure tangles don`t turn into knots that need to be ripped out.
Hair Accessories : Use good quality brushes, combs and accessories for your kid’s hair. Kids love having fun clips and hair ties. Avoid hairclips with sharp teeth, as these can hurt the scalp and cause hair damage. Keeping hair neatly tied back is a good way of avoiding hair tangling.
Haircuts : When should children get haircuts?
Children should usually get haircuts around 1 year old if the hair is growing out very long. Some children do not require a haircut until they are much older because hair growth will vary. For younger boys, once the initial haircut has been made, another haircut will not be needed until bangs become too long. Young boys' hairstyles are usually good until the bangs go past the eyes and start hampering activities. Haircuts for little girls should be given more often to keep hair from getting too long and tangling up. Girls hair length should be right at should length to provide different cute looks like little curls or waves for special occasions. Shorter hair is also good for young girls. Haircuts slightly past the chin are cute hairstyles that allow young girls to be playful. Girls' haircuts should be cut once a month or every other month depending on growth.
Children's salons : The places most adults go to are usually not convenient or even proper places where children should get their haircuts. Salons, beauty shops, and other hair facilities can be both too active as well as expensive for a quick haircut. The first step for getting your child's haircut is looking for a specialist who caters only to children. So find out if you have a specialized children's salon in your area. They are designed to make the hair cutting experience a fun one with toys, video games, fun shaped chairs.
Home cuts : If your child is afraid of the hairdresser, you could try cutting their hair at home. They will feel much more comfortable in their own home environment. Cutting hair for a child is basically the same for an adult, except that a child's hair is usually thin and baby soft. If the child's hair is thin, avoid short cuts for now until their hair comes in thicker. Shape around the face if you're trying to grow it long. If you don't have any haircutting experience or if you don't feel confident enough to cut their hair, you can get someone to help you.
